The Son of Tengri to Be Staged at the National Theatre in Budapest

Ulaanbaatar, April 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The artists of the State Academic Drama Theatre of Mongolia are set to travel to Budapest, Hungary, in April 2025.
The artists will participate in the 12th MITEM International Theatre Festival with the historical epic play “Tengeriin Khuu,” [The Son of Tengri], written by Tsognemekh Bitogtokh and directed by Laureate of the State Premium of Mongolia Naranbaatar Namnan. The Festival brings together theater artists from more than 30 countries around the world, offering a platform to showcase their work, promote global cultural exchange, and highlight trends in the development of performing arts.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Hungary. In commemoration of this milestone, “Tengeriin Khuu” will be presented under Mongolia’s National Brand, “GoMongolia,” aimed at further deepening cultural ties between the two countries. The production will be performed at the National Theatre of Hungary in Budapest on April 25-26, 2025.
As part of the preparations for the MITEM Festival, “Tengeriin Khuu” will also be performed on April 4-6, 2025, at the State Academic Drama Theatre of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar City.
