Bagakhangai-Hunnu City Railway to Be Built

Ulaanbaatar, April 8, 2025 /MONTSAME/. As part of the 24 Mega Projects for Ulaanbaatar City Development, a branch railway will be constructed along the Bagakhangai-Hunnu City route.
The railway will extend over a total length of 102 kilometers, with a central load-bearing capacity of 25 tons. The Project will include a 2.5-kilometer bridge structure and the installation of 115 drainage pipes. The planned operational speed for trains on this line is estimated at 90 kilometers per hour.
In addition, under the draft Law on Amendment to the Law on the Legal Status of the New Zuunmod City and its accompanying legislative documents, the name of New Zuunmod City—designated to carry out special functions of the Capital City, has officially been changed to “Hunnu City.”
