Postage Stamp for the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Mongolia and France Unveiled

Ulaanbaatar, April 27, 2025 /MONTSAME/. In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the French Republic, the Unveiling Ceremony of a postage stamp and a photo exhibition were launched at the the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia by the "Mongol Post" Company.
Deputy Chairman of the State Great Khural and Head of the Mongolia-France Parliamentary Friendship Group of the State Great Khural Purevdorj Bukhchuluun, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Mongolia Corinne Pereira Da Silva, CEO of “Mongol Post” JSC Telmen Gerelt, heads of the diplomatic missions in Ulaanbaatar, representatives from international organizations, senior diplomats, and honored guests who have contributed to the development of relations between Mongolia and the French Republic, attended the Launch Event.
The Ministry of Foreign Relations of Mongolia has a tradition of launching commemorative postage stamps on the decennials of the establishment of diplomatic relations with countries, in collaboration with “Mongol Post” Company. Within the framework of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Institute of International Studies along with the Mongolian and French Friendship Society, organized an academic meeting under theme of “Sixty Years of Relations Between Mongolia and the French Republic” in the “Concurrence” Chamber at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
During the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia Kh. Bekhbat remarked, “Today we mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the French Republic. A series of activities has been planned to mark the anniversary. During the academic meeting, views on the past, present and future of the relations between Mongolian and the French Republic were exchanged and reports on the new studies were presented. The history of the relations between the two countries was reviewed, which are being expanded in politics, culture, education, science and technical sectors. Mongolia considers the French Republic as a Third Partner. The French side gives a big importance to the high-level official visits in Asia in order to further develop relations with our country. Commemorating the anniversary, a Mongolia postage stamp was launched and signed off on envelop. It has got a postage stamp that can be valued across the country. There are rare archival photos and facts at the gallery that show the sixty-year history. The postage stamp resembles the letters exchanged between kings and noblemen of the Mongolian Empire and kings of France. In the 13th century, Rubruck arrived in Kharkhorin as an envoy from the king of France and stayed with King Munkh for a few months. During his stay, the French sculptor created the silver tree in Kharkhorin City.
Mongolia and the French Republic established diplomatic relations on April 27, 1965. With the decennial of this anniversary, a series of celebratory events will be held in Ulaanbaatar and Paris throughout 2025.
