Foreign Minister of Mongolia and Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Spain Hold Official Talks

Ulaanbaatar, April 30, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On April 30, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh, who is paying an official visit to the Kingdom of Spain, held official talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain José Manuel Albares.


During the official talks, the two sides discussed the expansion of Mongolian-Spanish relations, which are based on common values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, with economic content, and the effective implementation of development policies. Foreign Minister Battsetseg introduced Mongolia's development policies and major objectives and underlined the extensive potential for mutually beneficial cooperation between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Spain. The two sides agreed to expand bilateral relations in investment, economy, trade, agriculture, light industry, tourism, and education.


The two parties also affirmed mutual commitment to work towards facilitating a favorable legal environment for intensifying cooperation, particularly to finalize the establishment of the Agreement on Air Relations, the Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of Driving Licenses, and the Agreement on Exemption from Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports. Moreover, Foreign Minister Battsetseg introduced Mongolia's foreign policy and its priorities. The two sides agreed to work closely within the framework of the initiatives put forward by Mongolia at the international level, specifically on ensuring the preparations and successful outcomes of the World Women Entrepreneurs Forum, to be held in Ulaanbaatar in August 2025, and the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, which will be held in Ulaanbaatar in 2026.


Highlighting the importance of high-level mutual visits to intensify bilateral relations, the two sides agreed to organize the State Visit of the Head of State of the Kingdom of Spain to Mongolia, the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain to Mongolia, and conduct political consultative meeting in the near future. The Foreign Ministers of the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between Mongolia and the Diplomatic School of the Kingdom of Spain on Preparing and Training Specialists in International Relations, Spanish Language, and Linguistics. The two sides also confirmed mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation within the framework of the UN and other international organizations and exchanged views on some issues in international relations.
