Works of Laureate of the State Premium and People's Writer Erdene Senge Added to the Library of Congress

Ulaanbaatar, June 4, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The works of Erdene Senge, Laureate of the State Premium and People’s Writer of Mongolia, have been added to the Library of Congress of the United States.
This marks a significant milestone, demonstrating the recognition of Mongolian literature and cultural heritage on the world stage and playing an important role in introducing the Mongolian language and culture to readers worldwide.
Erdene Senge was born in 1929 in Binder soum of Khentii aimag. The acclaimed writer is considered a master of prose and psychological storytelling, intricately exploring the essence of human life in his works, capturing characters with masterful language. A pioneer of modern Mongolian short fiction, Erdene published “Circle of Life,” “Oasis,” “Zanabazar,” “Dust Raised by Livestock,” “Sun Crane,” “Khoit Nasandaa Uchirna,” and other works. He received the State Premium in 1965, the Mongolian Writers’ Union Prize in 1976, and the title People’s Writer of Mongolia in 1994.
Considered as the world’s largest library, the Library of Congress holds works in more than 470 languages and was originally established to provide research support for members of the United States Congress, but has since grown into a global research center that safeguards the priceless heritage of science, culture, and art.
Rare and contemporary Mongolian books are housed in the Library’s Asian Reading Room, offering foreign scholars and researchers invaluable primary sources for the study of Mongol culture, history, and literature.
