National campaign against cancer starts from Uvs aimag

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ The National Campaign Against Cancer (NCAC) is a health project being implemented for its 8th year across the country by the National Cancer Center, Khan Bank Foundation and Mongolian National Broadcaster. It aims at preventing from cancer, involving targeted groups in the screening for early detection and improving knowledge about cancer.
The NCAC started health check-ups and screening in Uvs aimag on June 4. This year, the project team puts an emphasis on detecting cases of gastric cancer and western three aimags; Uvs, Bayan-Ulgii and Khovd have been chosen as they have highest gastric cancer rates. Locals of these aimags will be involved in the preventative check-ups and screening of 8-10 types of cancer.

Moreover, the project plans to involve local physicians and health workers in the professional trainings and bank staff in the volunteer training, alongside dissemination of information to locals on prevention of cancer and significance of early detection.
Within the campaign, over 115 thousand people were involved in complete screening of cancer in the past seven years.
