Tribute paid to a representative of Polish specialists who worked in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations with the Republic of Poland, Mongolian Ambassador to Poland B. Dorj hosted a meeting with a 92-year-old Polish citizen Zjislav Banasik as a representative of Polish specialists, who had worked in Mongolia, on October 14 at the Embassy in Warsaw.

Before 1990, some ten factories were established in Mongolia with the assistance of Poland.  Zjislav Banasik worked in a carpentry and furniture factory as a chief project engineer in Mongolia in 1967-1971. Polish specialists also worked on paleontological and geological exploration expeditions and made valuable contributions to the development of Mongolia.


In his speech, the Ambassador said, “We must not forget the ‘silent’ heroes who contributed to the development of Mongolia in the past.” The Ambassador emphasized the importance of establishing contacts with other Polish people who worked at that time, eternalizing the remembrance of the merits of all of them that put the foundation of the present bilateral cooperation and setting an example for future generations involved in Mongolian-Polish relations. 

At the event, videos and presentations about Ulaanbaatar city development in the 1960s and 1970s and present-day Mongolia were showed alongside cultural performances. Moreover, Mr.Banasik was presented souvenirs.
