“State prizes should be granted by law, not by President’s decree”
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ State prizes are still granted pursuant to decrees of the State Head, now they should be awarded by a concrete law, said the President Ts.Elbegdorj at a meeting Thursday to present his bill on state prizes.
With 40 articles in seven chapters, the draft law on state prizes reflects types of state prizes and their criteria harmonized with the Constitution of Mongolia and the concept. Some current prizes have been removed, for example, titles of People’s Artist and State Honored Artist.
In order to promote real value of the state prizes, criteria for granting them have become tougher, for instance, some titles and orders will be given once every five years to one person, the President emphasized.
The bill also makes more concrete those authorized to grant these prizes, for example, the supreme prize of Mongolia will be granted by the President, other high prizes can be granted by others on behalf of the President.
