Consumer price index increasing

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In April of this year, the national consumer price index (CPI) increased by 1.4% against the previous month, by 3.1% against the beginning of the year and by 2.1% against the previous year.

An annual increase by 2.1 points was mainly due to increases of 1.3 points (61.1%) in education and 0.6 points (26.5%) in clothing, footwear and cloth.

CPI declined in April 2016 by 1.3% in Bayan-Olgii aimag against March, whereas it increased by 0.2-3.6% in other aimags. The largest rise (3.6%) was recorded in Dornogobi aimag.

In April 2016, CPI went up in Ulaanbaatar city by 1.5% against March, by 3.1% against end of 2015, and by 1.9% against the same period of the previous year.

In the period, prices of 10.6% of 329 kinds of goods and services in consumer basket increased, 1.8% of the goods declined, whereas 87.6% of products were stable in the capital city.
