Warmth to come around end of February

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ According to the Information and Research Institute for Meteorology, Hydrology and Environment, the cold days will continue in the eastern region of Mongolia. Snowfall, blizzards and dust storms are expected in western parts of western provinces on February 12, in some regions and northern part of central region on Feb 13, in some parts of central provinces and in northern part of the eastern region on Feb 14, central and eastern provinces and eastern part of the Gobi on February 15.

The windspeed will collect strength in the Altai Mountains on February 12 and in the front gorge of Arts Bogd Mountain, reaching 12-14 ms/ec, and in some regions on February 13-17, and in the Gobi reaching 18 m/sec.

Although the temperatures will rise in most regions, the nighttime temperature around Lake Uvs, depression of Darkhad, Ider, Tes and Eroo rivers will be -36-41 Celsius on February 14-19, and the daytime, -22-27. In the front of Mongol Altai, Khangai and Khentii Mountains, and the banks of Orkhon-Selenge, Eg, Kharaa, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon, Ulz and Khalkh rivers, the nighttime temperature is expected to be -27-32, and the daytime, -19-24.

In southern part of the Gobi, the nighttime temperature will be -14-19, and the daytime, -4-9. In other regions, the nighttime temperature will be -17-22, and the daytime, -10-15 Celsius.

The temperatures will noticeably rise in the last ten days of the month in most regions, with chance of snowfall in some regions.
