President attends first national symposium of citizens’ representatives

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Presidential Office and Judicial General Council co-organized the first national symposium of citizen’s representatives in court on April 17, Monday in the State House.

The symposium was attended by some 880 individuals consisting of 416 citizens’ representatives from 330 soums of 21 aimags and 9 districts of the capital city, 114 judges, 121 people representing public organizations, representatives of 77 NGOs and 121 representatives of Khoroos of the capital city’s 9 districts who addressed the role of citizens’ representatives in court and challenges in realization of the relevant law, and issued a recommendation on how to improve the present situation.

President Ts.Elbegdorj delivered an opening speech in which he cited impressions of several citizens’ representatives on their court experience, saying that they are indeed satisfied with their duties.

“A citizen’s opinion based on his experience with court will define the judiciary pillar better than that of a government official”, the President remarked. It is estimated that there are about 475 judges in Mongolia.

The President also commented on the success of www.shuukh.mn website which was launched in the frameworks of reformation of judiciary branch of Mongolia and has 15 thousand registered users now. Approximately, some 10 thousand internet users visit the website on daily basis, with 150 thousand court decision files being downloaded annually.
