Permanent Representative to International Maritime Organization presents letter of credence

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On April 20, S.Bayar, Ambassador of Mongolia to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland presented his letter of credence to Kitack Lim, Secretary-General of International Maritime Organization (IMO) as a Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the IMO. After handing over the letter of credence to the IMO Secretary-General, the two parties exchanged views on cooperation between Mongolia and the IMO.
At the meeting, Ambassador S.Bayar introduced a role of sea transport to the economic development of Mongolia, a landlocked developing country, as well as the activities and policies that being carried-out by the government of Mongolia within the water transportation industry. After presenting the achievements of this sector and measures to be co-implemented with the IMO, he also underlined that Mongolia needs a technical assistance from the IMO in order to bring domestic laws and standards of Mongolia into compliance with international standards.
Congratulating to Ambassador S.Bayar for his appointment as a Permanent Representative to the IMO, IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim expressed his readiness to exert all possible efforts to render supports and technical assistance in order to develop sea transportation and intensify cooperation between Mongolia and the IMO.
