Major fire breaks out at Gobi Factory

A fire broke out at the main factory of the Mongolia’s largest cashmere product manufacturer “Gobi” JSC, burning down the roof of entire factory complex last night.
The factory, which was built with the Japanese investment in 1981, consists of four main facilities and was capable of handling the entire production process from raw materials to final product.
Over 150 firefighters of all twelve units of National Emergency Management Agency, with the assistance of Ulaanbaatar Railway Station, Water Supply and Sewerage Authority and City Maintenance Authority, have battled the blaze for 10 hours straight.
The cause of the fire was not yet known. National Emergency Management Agency officials are still working on the scene.
