The opening ceremony of the 17th ‘Roaring Hooves’ international music festival of contemporary music and folk was held today in Gandantegchenling Monastery. The festival was named ‘one of the 50 most unbelievable trips in the world. This year, the Gandantegchenling monastery is cooperating with the organizers of the event to promote Buddhist traditions and cultural heritages in Mongolia.
During the opening ceremony, a rendition of the original version of ‘UIemjiin Chanar’ song by Danzanravjaa engaged the attendees and Mongolians all around the world at the same time.
Mongolian Buddhists believe that a single rendition of the song amasses as much good deeds as chanting the Tara mantra a thousand times. Experts claim that the song’s lyrics don’t just praise the beauty of a woman but make a secret mantra that is abridged by words. Mongolians have long performed the song at festivals and celebrations.
The annual music festival takes place in Ulaanbaatar, in Kharkhorin soum of Uvurkhangai province and Khamar Monastery of Dornogobi province and will continue until July 4.
