National Park sees 98 percent growth of planted trees

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Ulaanbaatar city's authorities planted trees at the National Park on October 14, the National Tree Planting Day, as the nation engaged in tree planting activities.
Ulaanbaatar residents and city administration officials watered 1,000 trees growing in the park and planted about 600 saplings of aspen, sea buckthorn and maple newly.
Mongolia is observing the National Tree Planting Day for the eighth year. Pursuant to a Presidential decree issued in 2010, Mongolia began observing the National Tree Planting Day twice a year.
Since 2010, 2 million 022 thousand and 538 trees have been planted in the capital city territories. This year’s National Tree Planting Day is being carried out under the theme ‘Fresh Air for Everyone; Water for Every Tree’.
The National Park constitutes 23 per cent of the total green space in the capital city. During the National Tree Planting Day last spring, 2,230 trees of seven types were planted in the park.
Corresponding authorities conducted a census at the park in last August and September. Since 2009, 123 thousand and 187 saplings of 26 types were planted, and the growth rate stands at 98 per cent so far. Experts also emphasized the satisfactory annual growth of deciduous trees in the park by 40-60 cm and coniferous trees by 20-40 cm.
Moreover, a number of groves such as Canada Grove, JCI Grove, Ambassadors Grove, Couple’s Grove and Family Grove have been created in the park.
