Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On November 15, Prime Minister U. Khurelsukh worked at Thermal Power Plant-IV, stated-owned company.

The PM was introduced that the company has stocked up 185 thousand tons of coal and 64 tons of oil-fuel for winter preparations. Today, the company has no payables to Baganuur and Shivee-Ovoo coal mines and has lowered its debts, accumulated since 2001, by MNT1.2 billion. The company’s financial condition is improving and remainders of short and long-term loan debts have decreased.

After hearing the reports and seeing the operations of TPP-IV, U. Khurelsukh said, “The government is working to gradually supply 21 thousand households with electricity in the first turn. It plans to connect 68 steam boilers to central grid this year, 223 steam boilers next year. We believe that as a result, 21 thousand chimneys will be disappeared and air pollution of the city will be reduced in this extent.”
He pledged to connect about 5,000 households which currently have no electricity, with electricity within nearest two years.

“To be an independent state, any country must be capable to provide its domestic needs of vegetables and foods thoroughly and develop energy, oil, communication and infrastructure sectors. A number of energy users increase by 7-8 percent per year whereas the volume of energy production rises by 3-4 percent on average. Thus, it is probable to encounter energy shortfall in case many enterprises are further established and large-scale projects are implemented. For this reason, the government will pay a great attention on building thermal power plants in Shivee-Ovoo, Tavantolgoi, Baganuur and Choibalsan, on expanding TPP-III and modernizing TPP-IV,” said PM.

“I have information that about 20 entities were issued lands from TPP-IV’s protective strip, in particular, from area within its enclosure. It negatively affects safety operation of the country’s important plant; therefore, a minister of relevant sector must take a prompt action in accordance with the applicable law,” pointed out U. Khurelsukh.

The PM told authorities of relevant ministries, agencies and organizations to work earnestly and responsibly.
The Thermal Power Plant-IV produces 70 percent of the country’s gross energy consumption and 60 percent of heating.
