Agriculture Minister meets Mercy Corps Country Director

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Minister B.Batzorig met with Mercy Corps Mongolia Country Director Ramesh Singh on December 8.
In 1999, Mercy Corps officially opened its office in Mongolia and implements projects aimed at supporting rural economic growth, developing rural businesses, building civil society, promoting good governance practices, and creating an open and transparent society.
Minister B.Batzorig said that the Ministry is to support effective projects with its policies and pay attention on improving fruitfulness.
Ramesh Singh said, “Mercy Corps is currently implementing a project to develop market linkages of animal husbandry. The project is working in fodder production, animal breeding and livestock health. The Ministry is reportedly working for approval of laws regarding genepools of livestock and animals’ health. The Mercy Corps will give support to the implementation process of the laws.”
Ramesh Singh pointed out that the Ministry’s policy to improve the quality of livestock corresponds well with the activity of Mercy Corps and expressed his satisfaction with the meeting.
