Progress of ‘Nogoon nuur’ residential project heard

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On January 8, P.Bayarkhuu, Ulaanbaatar city’s deputy Governor in charge of infrastructure and ger area development, held a meeting with Li Yun Jiang, head of the project unit on Ger Area Re-planning, which will be implemented with an assistance of Baotou city of China, and other related officials.

During the meeting, they discussed the progress of the project to construct temporary-apartment town near Nogoon Nuur area within the framework of the ger area re-planning project.

 Li Yun Jiang said, “We submitted to Mongolia’s Ministry of Construction and Urban Development our proposal on top scored three companies that were selected through a tender. After the Ministry chooses one of them, a constructional work will commence. Firsthand, the project plan is ready in Chinese. Soon we introduce it, translating into Mongolian. We will take all necessary measures to intensify project actions. We have implemented many projects like this before. We are very grateful to Mongolia for showing us much confidence.”

This project will be implemented with CNY 350 million worth non-refundable assistance of Chinese Government. Today, it is in the process of settling agreement conditions and choosing a contractor to start the construction.

According to the project, it will cover a residential town with eight 21-storey apartments, secondary school for 960 children, kindergarten for 240 children and heated parking for 240 automobiles. Moreover, a shopping and service center and playgrounds will be erected.

The apartment construction on 4.2-hectare area that was freed by citizens will also allow to provide heating and electricity to households that are not connected to central heating and electricity network.
