Moscow /MONTSAME/ Transit Mongolia-2018’ forum with an aim to promote transit transport service wrapped up in Moscow in the course of TransRussia/TransLogistica: 23rd International Exhibition for Transport and Logistics Services and Technologies on April 17-19.

The first ‘Transit Mongolia-2017’ forum held in April in Beijing brought benefits in transit transport sector of Mongolia, highlighted B.Jigjidnyamaa, Chairman of the Mongolian-Russian ‘Ulaanbaatar Railway’ Joint Venture.

At recent years, Mongolia, Russia and China have intensively discussed transport sector issues agreeing to realize biggest projects. Hence, it provided favorable condition to increase volume of freight transport through railroad. The Ulaanbaatar Railway will increase number of railroad for receiving trains to 16 and open one new railway station in 2019 and as a result loading capacity expected to reach 28 million tons.

“Trans-Mongolian Corridor passing through territory of Mongolia or the Ulaanbaatar Railway is a main supporter line of Trans-Siberian transport corridor, highest competitive transport corridor that connect Europe and Asia,” he added while emphasizing transport corridor pass through Mongolia is shorter and economically beneficial than the two congested corridors pass by Mongolia.

Main line of Mongolia’s railroad or railroad that links Russia with China is 1110 km long and it transports 22 million tons of freight a year. The corridor is 513 km shorter than the corridor pass through Kazakhstan and 748 km shorter than the Trans-Manjuur corridor.

‘Transit Mongolia-2018’ forum consisted of two parts and representatives made presentations under the topic ‘Development Policy of Railroad and Railroad Collaboration of Mongolia, Russia and China’. Head of Maritime Administration of Mongolia S.Tuvshintor said that Mongolia launched its open registration activity of sea-craft/ship in 2003 in Singapore in frame of rights of land-locked countries of fly their flag on the seas. Mongolia is a land-locked country, however, number of registered sea-crafts of Mongolia and its load capacity are more than that of some coastal countries. It is an indication that Mongolia could take up position in the field in the past.

“We will establish a corridor that connect China, Mongolia, Russia and Europe while increasing volume of freight and  creating mechanism to coordinate constructions. It is crucial to formulate engineering design of ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative based on practical need of the three countries and their collaboration and studying market feasibility,” emphasized in his presentation Ling Bei Zhang, Secretary of China International Freight Forwarders Association.

During the forum, ‘Mongolian Railways’ State-Owned Company and Russian ‘Mosgiprotrans’ JSC signed a memorandum of cooperation. Moreover, the delegates agreed to organize ‘Transit Mongolia-2019’ forum in Ulaanbaatar.
