Gross industrial output increases

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first half of 2018, the gross industrial output reached MNT 7.4 trillion, showing an increase of MNT 1.5 trillion (24.6%) from the same period of the previous year.

The main factor of this increase was due to an increase of mining and quarrying gross output by MNT 1.0 trillion (24.2%) of which mining of coal by MNT 661.0 billion (51.4%) and mining of metal ores by MNT 287.1 (11.4%) billion.

In June of 2018, the gross industrial output reached MNT 1.5 trillion, decreased by MNT 30.3 billion (2.0%) compared to the previous month. The seasonally adjusted industrial production index in June 2018 was 171.2 (2010=100), decreased by 2.4% from the same period of the previous year, increased by 12.2% from the end of the previous year and by 1.8% from the previous month.

Compared to the same period of last year, the most increase in the main production of the mining and quarrying sector in the first half of 2018 goes to copper concentrate, flour spar, and gold and crushed stone by 0.9% to 62.3%. In the manufacturing sector, major growth was observed in beer, vacuum windows and doors, buuz and dumpling, alcoholic beverage, fodder, sausage products, knitted goods, sawn wood, combed down by 6.6-54.5%, respectively.
