Art therapy event held at National Center for Mental Health

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The ‘Colored day’ event initiated by the Art Council of Mongolia (ACM) and supported by the Mongol Em Impex Concern and Capital Bank took place at the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) today, on July 18.

Over 50 people including patients, the center staff, doctors and psychologists attended the event. In 2014, the ACM started the Colored Day project in cooperation with Foundation for Hospital Art of USA at the State Central Third Hospital named after P.N.Shastin to introduce art therapeutic technique that helps patients to improve their esteem and get emotional support.

Art therapy is a creative method of expression or an art-making process used in psychotherapy. It is commonly used to reduce negative feelings and emotions, cope stress and increase self-confidence of patients.

The organizers are planning to expand their activities and donate 15 paintings to three state hospitals.
