By-election and re-voting run in some areas

and re-voting of Citizens’ Representatives Meeting were conducted on October 7
in Dornogobi and Sukhbaatar aimags and Bagakhangai district of Ulaanbaatar,
reported the General Election Commission.
By-election was run for two mandates
of the Citizens’ Representatives Meeting of Dornogobi and Sukhbaatar aimags and
four mandates of three soums of the two aimags and Baganuur district of
Ulaanbaatar, whereas a re-voting was carried out for two mandates of the
Citizens’ Representatives Meeting of two soums of Dornogobi aimag, for which a total
of 15 candidates competed.
Additional voting
will be run at two voting units of Sainshand soum and nine voting units of
Zamyn-Uud soum of Dornogobi aimag due to insufficient voter turnouts which
could not reach legally acceptable level of 50 percent of total registered voters.
According to the 106th of Law on Election, electoral committees of
the soums will make a decision on additional voting and set a date.
As a result of
the elections, a candidate from Democratic Party (DP) received major votes in
the by–election of Citizens’ Representatives Meeting of Sukhbaatar aimag,
becoming a member-elect.
In
by-elections held in Altanshiree and Ulaanbadrakh soums of Dornogobi aimag, candidates
from Mongolian People’s Party received major supports, whereas DP’s candidate got
higher votes in the by-election of Sukhbaatar soum of Sukhbaatar aimag.
In Baganuur
district of Ulaanbaatar, MPP’s candidate received major votes.
