Selenge /MONTSAME/ Governor of Selenge aimag Sh.Orgil and Head of the ETIS program of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Karin Reinprecht signed a EUR 30,000 grant agreement on October 30.

The investment was made to support the development of tourism and improve the capacity of Selenge aimag. Ms. Karin Reinprecht noted “We have an integrated fund at the GIZ. The Tourism companies will be allowed to improve their capacities with the support of the fund. The most important thing is that the companies should make up the half of their expenses. We will not provide entire financing. That’s why the bilateral cooperation is important here. For instance, we bought an eco toilet within the community based tourism. The local cooperative covered 50 percent of its cost. Tourism is a business itself. Thus, the businessmen should have their own assets, cover certain amount of the project's expenditure and cooperate.”

In addition to the development of tourism, the parties agreed to improve agriculture, specifically the fruit and vegetable value chain. In this regard, the GIZ expressed its willingness to support harvesting, storage, processing and sales, and cooperate in delivering customers fresh eco products.
