Heroic epic performed at State Ceremonial Ger

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In accordance with the Presidential Decree No. 13 on promoting Mongolian heroic epics issued on January 29, a ceremony took place for the performance of ‘Munkh Saikhan Turt Altan Torts (The Eternally Peaceful State of Altan Torts)’ on February 7.
The epic was performed by the epic-tellers D.Ulzii, E.Baatarjav and A.Baldandorj at the State Ceremonial Ger.
At the ceremony, Mongolian People’s Teacher S.Dulam said, “The president issued a very important decree on passing on the tradition of Mongolian heroic epics to the next generations and paying respect on the state level. Despite its current state today, I am grateful for the representatives of epic-tellers who have come today as well as others that retained the tradition of epic-telling.”
The Mongolian epic was inscribed in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding in 2009. Epics are traditionally performed during social and public events as well as state affairs.
