Health Minister meets French Ambassador

/MONTSAME/ Health Minister D.Sarangerel met with French Ambassador to Mongolia Philippe
Merlin.
At the
meeting, Minister D.Sarangerel extended gratitude for providing assistance to
renovation of the Surgery Division of the National Traumatology and Orthopedics
Research Center thus making a valuable contribution to advancing quality and accessibility of healthcare
services in Mongolia. She also highlighted that activities of the French NGOs
including Doctors of the World, Action Mongolia, Santé Sud, and APAU are of great
importance for the sector’s development.
For his
part, Ambassador Philippe Merlin expressed pleasure at successful implementation of joint projects and requested the Minister to focus on tackling tax issues
that arise when bringing necessary
equipment, medications and medical devices into the country for the French NGOs.
Moreover,
the Ambassador noted that talks are underway with the National Emergency
Management Agency of Mongolia to carry out a project on supplying helicopters
and spoke of a possibility to use those not only in times of disaster but also for
promptly providing healthcare services and transporting patients from remote aimags. It was also said that under this project, regular training courses
are planned to be provided for emergency physicians.
