SocietyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ The
Project for ‘Strengthening the National Capacity of Earthquake Disaster
Protection and Prevention in Mongolia’ (2016-2020) implemented by National
Emergency Management Agency and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
aims at further fostering disaster risk reduction (DRR) education and awareness
raising activities as one of the Project outputs.
With the purpose to promote
and guide the implementation of school DRR education, ‘Life-Safety Education
Program’ was formulated and approved as the Order A181 of Minister for
Education, Culture, Science and Sports on 6 April 2018. Accordingly, from
September 2019, the Life-Safety Education including of DRR education based on
the Program, will be implemented through the existing subjects, integrated
studies, and extracurricular activities in all schools in Mongolia nationwide.
For providing practical
examples of lessons based on the Life-Safety Education Program, a series of
workshops (three times) for the teachers have been conducted in No.244
Kindergarten, No.13 School, and No. 42 School which were selected as model
schools.
Based on the learning in the
workshops, Research Lessons1 has been conducted today, March 15 in
collaboration with Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Sports (MECSS),
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Mongolia, and JICA Expert Team
of the Project.
Through Research Lessons, teachers have had more concrete ideas for the important points to conduct Life-Safety Education, such as experience-based education activities and raise awareness in the sense of putting learning into actions.
