Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On May 31, Chairman of the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) O.Amartuvshin met with JICA Mongolia Office’s Chief Representative Eriko Tamura and program officer Kentaro Hotta together with Head of the Mongolia-Japan Center for Human Resources Development Ts.Davaadorj.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. Eriko Tamura gave information on the agency’s projects, programs, loans and grants for Mongolia. Moreover, she requested the chamber to cooperate on projects designed to ensure stable economic growth in harmony with nature, diversify industry, and strengthen the strategies for regional development, as well as to put effort into involving Mongolian companies broadly in the ‘Foodex Japan’ International Food and Beverage Exhibition.

Mr. O.Amartuvshin briefly introduced the chamber’s structure and operation and voiced his hope to collaborate with the agency and the Mongolia-Japan center in more areas in the future while mentioning that JICA is one of the biggest Japanese partner organizations of Mongolia.

He said “It is important to develop other sectors in addition to mining to expand the country’s economy. MNCCI shares this goal. Bringing products and services to Japanese market means satisfying the needs of the country’s customers and meeting quality standards of Japan. There seems to be some standard-related issues even though we enjoy customs exemption on over 5,000 products. Mongolian businesspeople need time and technology to benefit from favorable conditions of the economic partnership agreement,”

“Our manufacturers are unable to fully export their products to Japan on account of insufficient experience in exporting. We should share experience and collaborate in expanding our business ties. It is also significant to involve entities of the two countries in trade fairs to let them explore experience and improve their partnerships. A department responsible for trade fairs has thus been created at the chamber. Good brands can be discovered through fairs. We have to cooperate in many more ways” he added.
