Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The ‘Vision-2050’ is a policy document, which was formulated by a working group comprising of 1500 people, including scholars, experts and state secretaries of 13 ministries, heads of some government agencies, authorities of universities and representatives of non-government organizations. According to the Prime Minister's order No: 52 dated April 30, 2019, the working group analyzed development stages of the past 30 years of Mongolia and formulated the policy document that will define long and mid-term development policy until 2050. We are presenting 9 fundamental goals of the development policy in detail.

Despite being one of the few countries that have preserved their natural landscapes comparatively well, Mongolia continues to face environmental degradation and pollution and is on the brink of natural resource exhaustion/scarcity and ecosystem collapse in some of its regions due to human activities such as urbanization and industrialization as well as environmental and climate changes

Thus, the country seeks environmentally-friendly green growth and aims to ensure environmental sustainability through green development, let the younger generation enjoy its benefits, and boost people’s quality of life in defining its development policy in line with world trends.

Efforts will be directed at protecting and reclaiming the environment and ecosystems by setting ceilings on their value, load-bearing capacity, and life-sustaining capacity; putting natural resources into economic circulation with government directions through research-based development planning; increasing productivity through the development of resource-efficient, fruitful, low-waste advanced technology-based production and innovative products and services; and inculcating eco-friendly practices in people's everyday lives;

This goal comprises of the following sub development goals:

  1. To appreciate and protect the environment's value and productivity and ensure stability of primary production;
  2. To pass down well-preserved natural resources to the younger generation by reclaiming natural resources and reducing their exhaustion;
  3. To save and efficiently supply water with the purpose of preventing water resource scarcity;
  4. To contribute to the international climate change mitigation efforts through the development of low-carbon, fruitful, inclusive green economy;
