Journalists to support actions for sustainable development

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Union of Mongolian journalists for Sustainable development was established last year in aims of ensuring significant participation of journalists in outspreading implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It aims to serve to the society and raise their voices together for sustainable development.
Within it, http://journalistsforsdg.mn/ website has been launched in December, 2019 in order to share news about the individuals, companies, organizations who have already taken real actions for sustainable development, and to support those people to share about their right action in social media using #sdgActionMongolia hashtag.
Mongolia joined ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ document adopted by the United Nations general assembly in 2015, approving Mongolia Sustainable Development Vision 2030. In the policy document, Mongolia reflected to accomplish its commitment to fully eradicate poverty, provide public with quality education and ensure gender equality by 2030.
In July, 2019, the Government of Mongolia presented voluntary national report for implementation of SDGs to the United Nations. Even though the country is one of the pioneer countries that joined the sustainable development goals, it was reviewed that implementation of the goals are unsatisfactory in Mongolia.
People need to understand what is sustainable development?, why we have to not leaving behind development and why all we have to be equal and fair? Therefore, the union is working towards making people aware of sustainable development and taking real actions together for sustainable development.
