Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Due to concerns over Covid-19 novel coronavirus outbreak, the President of Mongolia issued last week a decree calling for the public to cancel the widespread celebrations of Tsagaan Sar holiday, which is to be marked between February 24 and 26.

In connection with this, the Specialized Inspection Agency of Ulaanbaatar city today held a press briefing, informing that the corresponding organizations have been checking the implementation of the decree, taking down street banners advertising and exhibition fairs for the Tsagaan Sar holiday.

During the Mongolia’s traditional Lunar New Year, inspections and sterilization operations will be intensified.

Moreover, officials from the Ulaanbaatar city and districts as well as senior citizens will be hired as foot patrols to roam around the busiest area of the city and Ger districts. The citizen patrols will be looking out for in public communities, asking people not to spit, litter or dirty public places, if necessary.
