Working group for establishment of gas pipeline set up with Russia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Energy Ts.Davaasuren reports that a working group has been set up with the Russian Federation to launch project work on establishment of gas pipeline through the territory of Mongolia and the working group has commenced its work to collect information and develop some documents.


The Minister said that establishment of the gas pipeline will be carried out under tri-partite participation of Mongolia, Russia and China. We set up a working group with the side of Russia. The working group co-chaired by Deputy Ministers of Energy of the two countries started their works, developing some documents and collecting information. We also put forth a request to the Chinese side to discuss specific matters on establishment of the pipeline. However, the sides could not hold a meeting due to COVID-2019 infection.


During his visit to the Russian Federation paid in December, 2019, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh agreed with the Russian side to commence the project on establishment of gas pipeline through the territory of Mongolia. At that time, the PM emphasized that project on establishment of gas pipeline which will be implemented within Economic Corridor between the three countries, would make significant contribution to the social and economic development of the three countries. While the Russian President V.V.Putin said “Now, there is no political barrier to realize the project.’
