Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Capital City Housing Corporation launched a project last November to offer citizens ready-to-occupy apartments in exchange for their land with the purpose of reducing air, soil, and other environmental pollution in Ulaanbaatar. The groundbreaking scheme plays an important part in housing ger district residents.

On May 22, Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan and Head of the Capital City Housing Corporation B.Sukhbaatar presented apartment keys to the residents of 19th subdistrict of Bayanzurkh district.

79 families residing in the 19th subdistrict submitted their requests to be involved in the project and 10 of the families, that freed up their 4.5 ha land lots, received keys to their new apartments at today’s event.

Governor S,Amarsaikhan noted that the Ulaanbaatar city government is working to house citizens conveniently and promptly and that citizens have been in favor of the land exchange project. "We will further implement rent-to-own and affordable housing projects in the future," he said.

One of the citizens involved in the project is exchanging the land he has occupied for 26 years with a 3-room apartment.

Occupants of a total of not smaller than 4 ha land lots in total can make a request to be involved in the project to exchange their land for apartments as there are plans to build an affordable eco-apartment complex that includes a large open green space and parking lot for everyone and is close to all amenities such as schools, kindergartens, and hospitals instead of only building two tall residential buildings with around 200 apartments on the land freed up by four to five families in the name of redevelopment.
