Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In preparation for the 2020 parliamentary election, the General Election Commission has completed checking whether the ballot papers are fulfilling legal requirements. In addition, ‘New Image Cast’ voting machines to be used during the election have been tested and verified by the Commission.

The whole process of testing and verification of voting machines as well as sealing of ballot papers before their delivery to the voting stations have been closely monitored by observers from political parties and coalitions and independent observer MIDAS NGO.

Beginning from today, June 11, the verified voting equipment will be delivered to local polling stations across the country as corresponding laws state that the machines must be delivered at least three days before the election day.

The machines that had been in use since 2012 for two parliamentary, two local council and two presidential elections of Mongolia went under examination by the General Intelligence Agency and General Election Commission, which concluded that they can be put into use again for the upcoming elections.

Voting day of the 2020 parliamentary election is scheduled on June 24, Wednesday.
