Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ According to the preliminary results, the gross industrial output reached MNT 5.1 trillion in the first 5 months of 2020, showing a decrease of MNT 1.9 trillion (27.3%) from the same period of previous year. This decrease was mainly due to the decrease in mining and quarrying gross output by MNT 1.8 trillion (34.6%) and manufacturing output by MNT 230.3 billion (16.1%), respectively. However, the electricity, thermal energy and water supply production output increased by MNT 67.0 billion (12.7%), respectively.

By preliminary results, the mining and quarrying gross output reached MNT 3.3 trillion, in the first 5 months of 2020, showing a decrease of MNT 1.8 trillion (34.6%) from the same period of previous year. This decrease was mainly due to decreases in mining of coal and lignite by MNT 1.3 trillion (59.6%), extraction of crude petroleum by MNT 331.6 billion (78.9%) and mining of metal ores by MNT 113.6 billion (4.8%), respectively.

By the preliminary results of the first 5 months of 2020, in mining and quarrying sector, extraction of iron ore and gold was increased by 5.3-46.9 percent compared to the same period of previous year. In manufacturing sector, alcohol, lime, milk, wheat flour, pure water, soft drink and juice were increased by 3.8 percent to 23.0 percent compared to the same period of previous year. By the preliminary results of the first 5 months of 2020, production of coal briquette and face covering was increased by 3.9 to 18.7 percent compared to the same period of previous year.

Moreover, in mining and quarrying sector, extraction of brown coal, flour spar, copper concentrate, hard coal and crude oil were decreased by 7.2 percent to 72.4 percent. In manufacturing sector, concentrated coal, copper cathode 99%, alcoholic beverage, lime, cement, cashmere products, concentrated coal, metal steel, meat, combed cashmere and cigarettes were decreased by 10.9 percent to 77.8 percent compared to the same period of previous year.

By the preliminary results of the first 5 months of 2020, the sales of industrial production reached MNT 5.4 trillion, decreased by MNT 2.9 trillion (34.9%) from the same period of previous year. This decrease was mainly resulted from the decrease of MNT 2.6 trillion (45.3%) in sales of mining and quarrying and MNT 361.0 billion (17.8%) in sales of manufacturing, while the sales of electricity, thermal energy and water supply were increased by MNT 67.8 billion (12.8%).

The sales of mining and quarrying production were decreased by MNT 2.6 trillion (45.3%) from the same period of previous year. This decrease was mainly resulted from decreases of MNT 1.5 trillion (68.9%) in sales of coal mining and MNT 752.0 billion (24.6%) in sales of mining of metal ores. For the total sales of industrial production, MNT 2.9 trillion (53.7%) were from export, of which export of mining and quarrying was MNT 2.4 trillion (82.6%).

For the sales of mining and quarrying production, MNT 2.4 trillion (82.6%) was comprised from the export, of which 70.3 percent was from mining of metal ores, 23.8 percent was from mining of coal and lignite, 2.8 percent was from extraction of crude petroleum, 3.1 percent was from other mining and quarrying.
