Chairman of City Council R.Dagva meets U.S. Ambassador Michael Klecheski

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Chairman of the Citizens’ Representatives Khural of the Capital City (City Council) R.Dagva today received Ambassador of the United States to Mongolia Michael Klecheski, discussing numerous matters including bilateral ties, parliamentary election, prosperity of Ulaanbaatar city and the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.


Ambassador M.Klecheski noted that foundation of bilateral relations and cooperation is democracy and its development. Democratic process is intensively developing in Mongolia. The U.S expands its cooperation with Mongolia, he underlined mentioning revival of USAID operation in Mongolia as an indication of it. The Ambassador voiced his gratitude to the chairman of the city council and the governor of the capital city on immediately resolving land permission for a new building of the U.S. Embassy in Mongolia.


Mr. R.Dagva expressed the capital city authorities intention to make a reform that supports private sector engagement in construction of the capital city and invited foreign investors in it.

 


“Private sector engagement and foreign and domestic investment are needed to advance the development of Ulaanbaatar city, which makes up 67 percent of gross domestic product of Mongolia and where half percent of the whole population resides and 75 percent of entities operate. Authorities of the capital city plan to establish Free Trade Zone in the capital city. I wish you Ambassador to convey our request to the investors of your country,” he added. 


In turn, Mr. Ambassador expressed the U.S. side would render all round support for bringing development of Ulaanbaatar city to a new level and to convey the cooperation proposal related with city development to American business people. The Ambassador also asked to collaborate with organizations such as American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia (AmCham Mongolia).
