Total COVID-19 cases in Mongolia reach 384

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A total of 24 close contacts of the Mongolian truck driver and his spouse, who became the first cases of COVID-19 community transmission in Mongolia, have been tracked down and put under isolation in the past several hours.
D.Nyamkhuu, Director of the Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) just recently reported that two of them tested positive for the virus. The patients are close relatives of the truck driver who is also under isolation at this moment, and are feeling well and showing no symptoms.
As a result, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 384.
In the early morning of November 11, today, 14 new cases of coronavirus were also reported after 993 tests were carried out on November 9-10.
Among them are two Belarusian and Russian freight truck drivers, who entered the country on November 8 across Mongolian-Russian Altanbulag border crossing checkpoint in Selenge aimag and 9 people who returned on charter flights from Almaty, Seoul and Delhi, and two people who had close contacts with the nurse, who was diagnosed to have the virus on November 6, caring for coronavirus patients at the NCCD,.
After the first cases of community transmission have been revealed today, the city of Ulaanbaatar has been placed under lockdown, with all movement out of the city is suspended and all public places are closed for 3 days starting from November 11.
As a precautionary measure, authorities of Dornod, Selenge, Uvurkhangai, Khuvsgul and Darkhan-Uul aimags have decided to impose restrictions on all movements in and out of their territories.
