Cabinet meeting news in brief

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its regular meeting on March 24, the Cabinet made the following decisions: 

 

-The Cabinet decided to submit to the Parliament the personal data protection bill, open data bill, and other related bills, and amendment bill to the crime prevention law.

 

- Around 233 thousand people have so far received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine nationwide. 1,440 beds have been added to six hospitals and 400 beds have been secured at six traditional medicine hospitals, and 620 more at nine quarantine facilities. Moreover, 932 beds have been prepared at 11 quarantine hotels for returnees and preparations are underway to create 300 beds in the dormitory of the University of Internal Affairs, 200 in the dormitory of National Defense University, 400 in the sports center in Yarmag, and 100 beds in the Wrestling Palace. 

  

-The Cabinet approved the loan agreement for the ‘Program on Strengthening Health Security-Subprogram-1’. It plans to take a USD 100 million loan from the Asian Development Bank on a 15-year term. The loan will be used to reduce the pandemic impacts on economy, budget and the vulnerable population and to fund budget deficit.

  

-The Cabinet approved the Agreement on Cultural, Educational, and Scientific Cooperation between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The agreement will open up opportunities to have student exchanges with Armenia, have Mongolian medical students study in the country, restore cultural and arts cooperation, and carry out collaborative scientific and research projects. Armenian medical diploma is accepted in European countries.

 

-The 100th anniversary of the modern educational and scientific development in the country falls in October 2021. The Cabinet decided to hold a global education ministerial forum in honor of the anniversary in October. Ministers from over 30 countries will discuss digital transformation, educators of new century schools, inclusive education, lifelong learning, and education partnership in the forum.
