President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh sworn in
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The 8th Presidential Election took place on June 9th, 2021, and ended with victory of Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the candidate from the Mongolian People’s Party, with majority vote of 67.69 percent.
The result of the
presidential election was confirmed by the State Great Khural at June 11th session,
and adopted a law unanimously ratifying the full rights of the President-elect
Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh.
In accordance with
the law on Ratification of the Full Rights of the President of Mongolia, the
inauguration ceremony was held at 11.40 am, today.
The 6th President of
Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh was inaugurated in the Great Hall of the
State Palace.
Preceding the ceremony, President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, accompanied by his spouse, paid respect to the Statue of Chinggis Khaan.
The inauguration
ceremony was chaired by Chairman of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar, who
delivered the opening speech. Mr. Zandanshatar invited outgoing President
Khaltmaagiin Battulga and the President-elect Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh to occupy
their seats on the stage of the Great Mongol Hall.
The ceremony continued with the new President taking the presidential oath, with his right hand on the Constitution of Mongolia.
After President
Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh took the solemn oath and paid tribute to the state flag
of Mongolia, the outgoing President Khaltmaagiin Battulga handed over the state
seal.
Upon receiving his office, President of Mongolia addressed the nation from the podium of the Great Hall. The ceremony wrapped up with the President’s tribute to the Nine White Banners, exalted at the Ceremonial Hall of the State Palace.
