Sea buckthorn factory opens in Uvs aimag

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A new factory of sea buckthorn jam has been put into operation in Ulaangom, the capital of Uvs aimag. The factory with a capacity of 10,000 small packages of jam per day, was jointly built by a sea buckthorn cluster group in Uvs aimag (province) and it operates under 'Us Erdene jims' company, a member of the cluster group.
The cluster group, consisting of 16 members has been set up in the framework of the ‘ProValue’ project, being implemented by the German Chamber of Commerce in the country and the group is planting sea buckthorn and running the production.
Members of the group are now ready to plant sea buckthorn on 16 hectares more with support from the ‘Provalue’ project.
As of the first 9 months of this year, 750 tons of berries have been harvested in Uvs aimag.
