State Secretary S.Batbold receives ESCAP Deputy Secretary

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On September 8, State Secretary of the
Ministry of Road and Transport Development S.Batbold
received Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social
Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Kaveh
Zahedi.
At the
meeting, an exchange of views took place on the current situation of
international road transport, the policy pursued in the
transport sector, and the implementation of the program for the establishment of transport corridors.

S.Batbold stressed the importance of the
role of ESCAP in organizing a meeting of the joint committee for the
implementation of the Intergovernmental Agreement on the implementation of
international road transport through the Asian Highway network. He noted
that Mongolia is pursuing a policy of promoting environmentally friendly vehicles,
expanding the network of cycle roads, and developing dry border
crossings.
Deputy
Executive Secretary Kaveh Zahedi, in turn, requested support for the activities
of the ESCAP Transport Committee, as well as other policies of the organization.
