WEDF-2023: Business Consultations on Landlocked Developing Countries
EconomyUlaanbaatar,
June 27, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The "World Export
Development Forum - 2023" kicked off yesterday in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia,
marking its 20th edition. The Forum, scheduled from June 26-29,
began with business consultations and meetings on landlocked developing
countries.
The International Trade Centre’s (ITC) annual flagship
event, the World Export
Development Forum (WEDF), aims
to facilitate meaningful conversations and collaborations that address the
challenges faced by the global trade community, including conflict, climate
change, the ongoing impact of COVID-19, and rising costs.
Mongolia hosts WEDF-2023 under the auspices of the President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, and the theme for this year’s Forum is "Diversify with Green Trade," emphasizing the importance of organic, digital, and sustainable solutions in overcoming multiple crises. The Forum has brought together over 600 delegates from 70 countries - a diverse range of representation, including small business owners, women entrepreneurs, young innovators, policymakers, and international organizations.
Closed-door business consultations on the first day of WEDF
aim to bring the private sector voice to the highest levels in government and
the United Nations for a Third UN Conference on LLDCs that is set for 2024 in
Kigali, Rwanda and will be attended by Heads of State and Government.
Parallel roundtables on business and trade development were
also held yesterday on Trade infrastructure, Regional connectivity,
Trade and finance and Inclusive trade facilitation.
Moreover, Business
to Business Meetings were held on ICT Services, Natural Fibres, and Leather. B2B Networking Platform was developed to
facilitate business connections between the participating companies and help
them meet potential partners at WEDF- 2023 .
B2B
Meetings on June 26 were scheduled automatically based on the company preferences
and business interests, using a matchmaking algorithm to provide suggestions of
potential meeting companies for registered companies. Meanwhile, WEDF 2023
provides the participating companies the opportunity to schedule their own B2B meetings
between June 27-29 through the B2B
Networking Platform, allowing them to choose companies, times, and places of the
meeting as well as to integrate the company’s personal agenda into the B2B calendar.
