Mongolia-Belarus Intergovernmental Commission Holds Meeting

The 7th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Mongolia and Belarus on Trade, Economy, Science, and Technology Cooperation was held on January 24, 2024, in Minsk, Republic of Belarus. This day marked the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries,
The meeting was chaired by
Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Bolorchuluun Khayangaa from
the Mongolian side, and Rogozhnik Alexander
Nikolaevich, Minister of Industry from the Belarusian side.
From the Mongolian side, a total of 32 representatives participated in the meeting including officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, the National Emergency Management Agency, Erdenet Mining Corporation, and representatives of the private sector.
At the meeting, the commission reviewed
the current political and economic relations and cooperation between the two
countries and discussed possibilities of expanding and strengthening cooperation
in the fields of education, science, technology, agriculture, mining, industry,
road transport, infrastructure, and emergencies. The parties agreed to work
together in the implementation of the "One Billion Trees" national campaign
initiated by President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, which targeted combating
environmental degradation, desertification, and yellow dust storms. For
example, Belarusian forestry experts will be invited to Mongolia to share their
experiences, joint research will be conducted on trees and bushes that are suitable
to the soil and climate of Mongolia, and Mongolian forestry experts will be
involved in medium and short-term training in Belarus. The two sides agreed to join
forces in the realization of the agreed issues by developing an action plan.
On the sidelines of the meeting
of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Minister of Food, Agriculture and
Light Industry Bolorchuluun paid a working visit to Belarus on January 22-24,
2024, and held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Food of
Belarus Bartosh Sergei Ivanovich. During the meeting Minutes of the third
meeting of the Inter-Mnisterial Working Group, and the Agreement on Cooperation
in the field of purebred livestock between "Agricultural Corporation"
a State-owned company of Mongolia and "Belplemzhivobyedinenie", the
Belarusian state association on livestock breeding were signed.
The fourth session of the Mongolia-Belarus
Joint Commission on Science and Technology Cooperation was also held on
January 23, 2024 where representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science headed
by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Ganbayar Ganbold participated.
