Mongolia Submits Request to Host International Wrestling Competitions

Ulaanbaatar, April 19, 2024 /MONTSAME/. A meeting of the Asian Wrestling Federation was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on April 19, 2024. Ya. Sodbaatar, President of the Mongolian Freestyle Wrestling Federation, and B. Myanganbayar, General Secretary of the Federation, were among those in attendance. At the beginning of the meeting, a report on the competitions and activities of United World Wrestling (UWW) was presented.

President of the Mongolian Freestyle Wrestling Federation, Ya. Sodbaatar said, “We have submitted a request to the United World Wrestling Federation to host international competitions from 2024 to 2028, leading up to the next Olympics. We are also focusing on involving our young athletes in international joint training, including them in scholarship programs, and developing referees. The Olympic qualifying tournament started today, on April 19, 2024. Eleven of our athletes will compete. We are confident that they will bring good news to the Mongolians.”
