Ulaanbaatar, April 26, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Zandanshatar Gombojav received Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Kim Young-joo on April 25, 2024.

At the outset of the meeting, Speaker Zandanshatar welcomed Mrs. Kim Young-joo to Mongolia and expressed gratitude for her participation in the “Trans-Altai Sustainability Dialogue - Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions” International Conference being held in Ulaanbaatar for the second time.

The Chairman emphasized the importance of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries in strengthening the political relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea.

The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea also expressed appreciation for the development of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. She highlighted the successful implementation of the “Supporting Children’s Health” project as a result of her sincere efforts and dedication to improving children’s health in Mongolia. Last year, she initiated and organized a discussion on “Addressing the Health and Social Welfare Issues of Foreign Residents’ Children in the Republic of Korea,” which led to the revision of legal regulations to protect children’s rights, providing a crucial impetus for enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation.

Deputy Speaker Kim Yong Ju expressed satisfaction with a meeting with Speaker G. Zandanshatar again and conveyed gratitude for the invitation to participate in the “Trans-Altai Sustainability Dialogue” International Conference for the second consecutive year. She noted that last year’s Conference, which spanned two days, brought together international scholars, researchers, and politicians to discuss gender issues and produced significant outcomes. This year, the focus on peace issues is of great importance given the current challenging international conditions.

Mrs. Kim Young-joo stated that the relations and cooperation between the two countries are intensifying, with closer ties being forged between their legislative bodies. Preparations are underway to continue the project for children’s health in Mongolia this year, with a team of specialized doctors from South Korea scheduled to visit for a week in May 2024. She stated the importance of the Speaker of the State Great Khural’s support in expanding and developing future collaborative efforts in various sectors.

Speaker Zandanshatar highlighted the active contribution and valuable input of the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea in enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation. He reiterated the invitation from President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol, to visit Mongolia. This visit is expected to strengthen the “Strategic Partnership” between the two countries and enrich it with trade and economic content.
