Mongolian Scientists Publish over 8,000 Papers in International Journals

Ulaanbaatar, April 24, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The Joint Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia, the National University of Mongolia, and other public universities hosted an International Academic Conference “Science and Technology New Revival Policy: Leveraging University Researchon April 23-24, 2024.


The two-day Conference aimed at presenting the current level of research and innovation at universities to the public, enhancing their contribution to social and economic development, and developing and delivering recommendations for state funding for research. The Conference brought together scientists from the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Germany, and China, and around 200 Mongolian professors, lecturers, and young scientists. 



Opening the Conference, Minister of Education and Science of Mongolia Enkh-Amgalan Luvsantseren said, “The first Mongolian conference on scientific research was held in 1944. In this, professors gave lectures and had scientific discussions on biology, medicine, mathematics, chemistry, and veterinary science. Since then, Mongolian scientific research and practices have consistently improved. As of today, our scientists and professors have published over eight thousand research papers in international research journals, which were referenced around 90 thousand times. More than 80 percent of the works were authored by scientists from the Academy of Sciences and major public universities. Over 70 percent of these were conducted by five public universities, indicating their significant role in advancing science and innovation.” The Minister of Education and Science noted that this Conference would be essential in formulating initiatives to advance the development of science and innovation in line with the Mongolian Government’s New Revival Policy.


Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai delivered greetings to the researchers and scientists attending the conference. In his message, Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene outlined the steps undertaken to advance science and technology. the Prime Minister said, "It is important to create a flexible financing system supported by the government, universities, and entrepreneurial companies. I believe this Academic Conference will foster the exchange of creative international practices and initiatives. The Government of Mongolia will support the initiatives developed by the scientists."
