Ulaanbaatar, July 1, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Kingdom of Belgium Bold Luvsanvandan signed the “Convention on International Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, War Crimes, and Other International Crimes” in Brussels last week.

Mongolia has been working closely with the Convention’s core initiators, including Argentina, Belgium, Netherlands, Slovenia, and Senegal. The first draft of the Ljubljana Hague Convention was adopted in 2023 at the Mutual Legal Assistance and Extradition (MLA) Diplomatic Conference held in Ljubljana, the Republic of Slovenia, which is now supported by 80 countries and signed by 35 countries.

The Convention includes international legal assistance and extradition procedures, transfer of convicted persons, and exchange of information in the fight against the most serious international crimes and is an important multilateral treaty to ensure the implementation of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
