Ulaanbaatar, July 3, 2024 /MONTSAME/. In light of the Mongolian Government's declaration of 2023-2025 as the "Years to Visit Mongolia," mounted patrols are working in Ulaanbaatar's streets and public spaces to ensure safety and provide assistance to foreign tourists. The Mounted Patrol Police Officers will enhance security around the Capital City.

In 2010, the Ulaanbaatar City Council allocated a budget of MNT112 million to address crime and misdemeanors and to establish mounted patrols along the Tuul River. This budget facilitated the acquisition of 20 Boudin horses from Russia and created an official herd for the police force.

A stable was established in Songinokhairkhan District's 32nd khoroo at the “Mal Bordon” area. Initially, the mounted patrols were managed seasonally by various units, including the Metropolitan Mobile Patrol Division, the National Police Agency’s Training Center, and the Metropolitan Police Department, due to the absence of a dedicated unit.

The mounted patrols aim at preventing, terminating, and detecting crimes and misdemeanors, as well as mitigating risks related to flood disasters. They operate along the Tuul River, from “Khar Usan Tokhoi” in Bayanzurkh District's 6th khoroo to the “Bio-Combinat” in Khan-Uul District's 12th khoroo. The patrols cover central and remote areas, including streets, neighborhoods, and recreational zones, with 30 officers assigned to 15 routes.
