/MONTSAME/. Foreign Minister of Mongolia Battsetseg
Batmunkh and the Secretary of State of the United States Antony John Blinken held
official talks on August 1, 2024, as a part of an Official Visit of the US Secretary
of State to Mongolia at the invitation of the Foreign Minister of Mongolia.
At the official talks, reaffirming mutual commitment to expanding and strengthening the Strategic Third Neighbor Partnership between Mongolia and the US, the two sides exchanged views on the realization of decisions agreed upon during Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue held last month in Washington.
In particular, the two parties agreed to open a capacity-building professional center for Mongolian English teachers in Ulaanbaatar. It was also agreed to organize an Energy Dialogue between Mongolia and the United States in Ulaanbaatar this year to discuss projects and programs to be jointly implemented in renewable energy. The two sides agreed to extend the Mongolia-US Child Protection Compact Partnership until 2025.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a briefing for media on the results of the official talks.
Foreign Minister Battsetseg noted, "The Official Visit of U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Mongolia would significantly contribute to elevating relations between our two countries to a new level. We held official talks on the possibilities of strengthening relations between Mongolia and the United States as the strategic third neighbors, expanding cooperation in all mutually beneficial areas. We also exchanged views in detail on regional and international relations. I am satisfied with the outcome of the talks."
The Foreign Minister emphasized, “We discussed the need to further improve Mongolia's investment climate and, numerous U.S. companies and enterprises expressed their keen interest in investing in our country through Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Based on the fact that Mongolia has chosen English as the primary foreign language, the United States agreed to establish an English Language Training Center in Mongolia. We also reached agreements on establishing direct flights between our two countries, holding energy talks in Ulaanbaatar this year, and extending the Child Protection Compact Partnership signed between the two countries in 2020."
Noting that this visit to the Indo-Pacific region is his 18th visit, US Secretary of State Blinken stated, “Today, we are becoming more closely connected in all aspects. The U.S. will continue its partnership with Mongolia under the Mongolia Water Compact of the Millennium Challenge Corporation and increase Mongolia's water supply by 80 percent. We will implement a program to teach the English language to students of high schools and universities in Mongolia."
