Mongolia and the Republic of the Philippines to Cooperate in Sports Sector

Ulaanbaatar, August 5, 2024 /MONTSAME/. As a part of an Official Visit of Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines Enrique A. Manalo to Mongolia at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh, the two sides signed documents on August 5, 2024.


Foreign Minister Battsetseg and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo signed several Memorandums of Understanding, including the MoU on Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines. The document renews the previous MoU signed in 2013 and establishes the cooperation mechanism between the two countries. The two sides agreed to intensify dialogue toward developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of common interest, including foreign relations, cultural exchanges, employment, and education, and ensure the participation of foreign ministries of the two countries in these efforts.


The Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia and the Sports Commission of the Republic of the Philippines signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Sports Sector. It also renews the previous MOU signed in 2013, aiming at expanding the relations and cooperation in the sports sectors between the two countries. Within the framework of the MoU, Mongolia and the Philippines will participate in international and national sports competitions, exchange athletes and coaches, organize friendly sports competitions, and collaborate in developing the sports sectors of the two countries.


Developing cooperation with the Philippines in the physical education and sports sector is regarded as having multifaceted significance as the Philippines has achieved high success in sports competitions in the Southeast Asian region, particularly in basketball and boxing and Mongolia aims at developing cooperation in discovering and developing sports talents of young generation
