Twelve Mongolians to Compete in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games
SocietyUlaanbaatar, August 10, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Member of the Parliament of Mongolia and Minister of Family, Labour, and Social Protection of Mongolia Enkh-Amgalan Luvsantseren met with athletes to participate in the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games on August 9, 2024.
Minister Enh-Amgalan wished the athletes success and expressed his commitment to further improving training facilities, addressing social issues, ensuring that essential equipment such as wheelchairs, prostheses, and orthopedic devices meet modern standards, and supporting the athletes at the policy level.
The Mongolian National Olympic Committee operates through 22 branches and 21 local councils, supporting over 4,500 children, youth, and athletes who train in 16 different sports across Mongolia. The Committee is also aiming at constructing a sports complex with specialized equipment, funded by a grant aid from the People's Republic of China, to ensure that all necessary resources are available for people with challenges to participate in sports.
Twelve Mongolian athletes will compete in six sports at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games: para archery, para judo, para taekwondo, para powerlifting, para athletics, and para swimming. Mongolian Paralympic athletes have participated in the Games since the 2000 Summer Paralympics, earning two gold and three bronze medals.
